Black sea infralittoral terrigenous muds

Infralittoral coastal terrigenous muds are characterized by mud and sandy mud with a terrestrial origin. There are two distinct sub habitats which are characterized by the dominant faunal communities. The first is dominated by polychaets, whilst the second is dominated by mussels (this one does not occur in Marmara Sea). Characteristic species: Melinna palmata, Heteromastus filiformis, Aricidea claudiae, Mytilus galloprovincialis and Mytilaster lineatus.
