El cuarzo faden es una variedad de cuarzo en la que numerosos cristales de crecimiento paralelo dejan ver en su interior una línea, de tono blanquecino, que los atraviesa perpendicularmente; este tipo de formación se llama faden, palabra que en alemán significa hilo, en alusión a esa línea blanca
