Thomisidae Sundevall, 1833
Descripción
Esta familia de arácnidos agrupa a las conocidas arañas cangrejo, conocidas así popularmente por tener los dos primeros pares de patas considerablemente largos y por desplazarse lateralmente. Son unas cazadoras muy eficaces con un veneno muy potente que paraliza rápidamente a los insectos que suelen cazar acechándolos muchas veces entre los pétalos de las flores, donde se camuflan y pasan desapercibidas por su forma y especialmente su coloración.
Está formada por unos 170 géneros y más de 2000 especies.
